About "Deposit-into-Bank Account" to China

For bank account deposits to China, transfers are processed through the UnionPay network.
If this is the first deposit to the designated recipient's bank account, ID registration is required. The recipient must complete the required registration procedure within five business days, including the date the remittance is sent.

  • 1.After the remittance is sent, UnionPay will send an SMS to the recipient.
  • 2.The recipient should open the link in the SMS, enter the required information, and register their ID.

If the recipient is a Chinese national:

ID registration is required only for the first transfer.
From the second transfer onward, the funds will be deposited into the recipient's account automatically.

If the recipient is not a Chinese national:

ID registration is required only once, during the initial transfer.
However, other information must be confirmed for each transfer, so the recipient should always check the link provided in the SMS.

  • Important: If the required registration is not completed within the specified period, the transfer will be automatically refunded.
  • The SMS containing the link will be sent through an SMS service provider using a sender ID that starts with "106"

  • UnionPay was established in 2002, is China's leading bankcard association and serves as the foundation of the country's everyday payment infrastructure. Since 2006, Western Union has partnered with UnionPay to provide direct-to-bank account transfer services in China.

Information Verified Through the SMS Link
When accessing the SMS link, the following information and other required details will be verified:

  • -Recipient’s bank card number
  • -Recipient’s mobile phone number
  • -Recipient’s full name
  • -Nationality
  • -Type of ID held by the recipient
  • -ID number
  • -Purpose of Remittance
